Fireworks lit up the sky and BBQs were smokin’ hot as Americans celebrated Independence Day on Fourth of July. Taraji P. Henson, Ciara and Mariah Carey were among the celebrities who shared their festivities on social media.
But Chance the Rapper stole the show after proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Kirsten Corley. In the middle of a garden party, Chance the Rapper – real name Chancelor Jonathan Bennett – got down on one knee to a round of cheers and applause from their friends and family.
Holding Corley’s hand, the No Problem rapper asked: “Will you make me a man and be my wife?” before calling over their two-year-old daughter Kensli to share the moment. Chance then placed an engagement ring on Corley’s finger before sharing a kiss with his new fiancee.
Chance, 25, and Corley have dated since 2013 and welcomed Kensli, their first child, in September 2015. However their relationship hasn’t always been a walk in the park. Corley legally filed to become “sole caretaker” of Kensli six months after she was born, and requested that Chance pay child support. These papers were withdrawn in 2017 when Corley stated she and the hip-hop star had reconciled and were living together again.
