Rapper Nicki Minaj is set to have the summer on lock after pushing back the release date of her fourth album, Queen, by two months.
Currently, fans are debating whether Minaj, 35, was joking when she appeared to confirm that she is dating rap legend Eminem. But in other – more important – news, it was also announced that the wait for Minaj’s new album has been delayed.
Yes, Minaj’s highly-anticipated next record will now be released on 10th August, giving the rapper plenty of time to promote the record over the summer. With that in mind, it’s probably a good time to round-up everything we know about Queen so far…
What do we know about Nicki Minaj’s new album Queen?
Originally scheduled for release on 15th June, Queen has been pushed back by nearly two months. In a tweet on 24th May, Minaj announced that her fourth studio album will instead arrive at the end of summer on 10th August.
Minaj told fans in an Instagram Live: “Trust me, it’s the better choice. I’m so excited. This album is so f**king incredible and it’s because I can’t give ya’ll half-ass. I refuse to. This is my best album. Everyone that’s heard this album has said it’s my best album.”
The rapper added: “June is still going to be the most exciting month for us in the last three years.”
That’s a bold promise to make to music-thirsty supporters who have waited since her 2014 album, The Pinkprint, for fresh material.

We may not get an album next month but we will get a glimpse at least.
In lieu of dropping the LP, Minaj will instead release several surprises between 11-15th June including the album cover, which was reportedly shot by Mert and Marcus. The acclaimed fashion photographers have worked with the likes of Madonna, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez; and most recently shot album covers for Taylor Swift and Fergie.
If the first singles are anything to go by, Queen is set to be fire.
Earlier in 2018, Minaj dropped two big bangers – Chun-Li and Barbie Tingz, the former of which came with a critically-acclaimed music video.
Chun-Li, named after the first female character in video game Street Fighter, sees Minaj ferociously claiming her place at the top of the female rap game, which prompted many to take this as another possible jab at her rival Cardi B. The track earned praise from fans and critics alike, inspiring hope for what’s to come from Queen.
TRACKLIST & COLLABORATIONS
As expected, details on collaborations have been kept under wraps. Minaj is, however, rumoured to be working with Ariana Grande and Madonna on new music after dropping hints. Plus, with her allegedly dating Eminem, fans should maybe brace themselves for a Roman’s Revenge part two.
Rumours suggest Minaj will tour Queen across the US later in 2018. During a Twitter exchange with UK rapper Ms Banks, Minaj also hinted that she will tour Queen across the pond in 2019. Will Ms Banks join her as a support act?
It’s been quite a few years for Minaj – in this time she split from boyfriend Meek Mill and watched as Cardi B took the rap game by storm. Fans will finally get an insight into what life has really been like for Minaj, as she will release a documentary later in 2018 showing a behind-the-scenes of recording the album later in 2018.
