Karrueche Tran has revealed why she took out a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. In an honest interview with Wendy Williams, the Claws actress recalled how she met and “fell in love” with the R&B singer and the drama after their split in 2015.
During her Wendy Williams Show interview on 21 September, Tran, 29, was quizzed on her controversial relationship with Brown which spanned five years. Their turbulent romance came to an end in March 2015 when it was publicly revealed that Brown, 28, had fathered a daughter, Royalty, with another woman.
Sharing how she first met the Loyal hitmaker, Tran told Williams: “I met Chris on a styling job. I was a personal assistant to a stylist… So I was on a job, and we met and he did his whole charming thing. It started as us just being friends. I didn’t have sex with him, or anything like that. Then it got to my emotions, and I fell in love with him.”
In February 2017, Tran obtained a temporary restraining order against Brown which was later upgraded to five years. In court documents, Tran accused Brown of punching her in the stomach twice and pushing her down the stairs while he also allegedly told people he was going to “kill” her.
The restraining order came just weeks after Brown posted an Instagram video in which he addressed his “stalker” behaviour. He stated: “If I love you, b***h, ain’t nobody gon’ have you. I’m gon’ make you miserable. I’m going to chase that n***a out, and I’m gonna chase you around, and it’s done!”
Explaining why she sought the restraining order, Tran admitted to Williams: “I felt like I needed to protect my safety.”
When Williams asked if she was abused by Brown, Tran replied with a coy: “Huh?” before moving onto another topic.
