Beyonce to sing James Bond theme song in 2019?

Beyonce reportedly reached out to Adele for advice on the James Bond theme song

Beyonce could be joining the 007 franchise with reports that she is in talks to sing the next James Bond theme song. It means Queen Bey could follow in the footsteps of Adele, Dame Shirley Bassey and Madonna who have had the pleasure of recording the movie’s opening track in the past.

Bond 25 is set for release on 8 November 2019 with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the iconic British spy for a fifth time. According to the Daily Star, Beyonce, 35, reached out to Adele for advice on whether singing the next James Bond theme song would be a good career move.

A source told the newspaper: “This is the only project she is remotely interested in right now. The two spoke before Bey’s first meeting with film bosses and Adele told her how co-writing and performing a Bond theme gave her an amazing career hike. Not many of the themes have been as successful – but there are tens of millions of Beyoncé fans out there.”

Adele won an Oscar for her 2012 Bond theme Skyfall

Adding fuel to the rumours, a senior executive for Hollywood movie studio MGM also said: “To tie-up a deal with Beyoncé for a theme song for Daniel’s fifth appearance as 007 would really be the icing on the cake.”

The most recent James Bond themes have enjoyed immense success with both Adele and Sam Smith winning the best original song awards at the Oscars for their respective 2012 and 2015 songs Skyfall and Writing’s On The Wall.

Beyonce is no stranger to movie soundtracks – the Formation singer has contributed to a number of movie scores including Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, The Fighting Temptations and Epic. Rumours are also rife that Beyonce will executive produce the soundtrack for the upcoming Lion King live action reboot as well as taking on the role of Nala.

The Tracking Board reported in July 2017: “There’s still no word on the voice of Nala, though Beyonce is believed to be nearing a huge deal to voice the latter character and serve as the Elton John of the new film by producing the soundtrack, which is expected to feature new songs from the Grammy-winning singer as well as old favorites from the original Lion King. That’s why Disney may be saving the Nala announcement for last, because the soundtrack has complicated negotiations and it’s nearly as important as the film itself.”
